You can't change it.

This is why you get an Estimated time of arrival. It is after all only a "navigational aid"

Hi

Not sure about TomTom Go, but I would imagine it should let you edit these speeds?

On the refular PPC version of the software it's in properties, advanced tab, scroll down to the preferred speeds section and put in what you want for each kind of road?

Would be interested to know if it is available on the Go version as I have two colleagues who are considering buying the unit?

The ability to alter the road speeds is one of the bits of functionality that is missing from all the Common Navigation Engine products, so is the same for Palm, GO and TomTom Mobile.

Hopefully TomTom will address this in a later release.

It is interesting that the new software is based on user feedback. Users appeared to want a plug and go minimum configuration system. When you give it to them the more advanced users suddenly realise how much we use some of these features.

Lets hope that TomTom implement all the Navigator 3 functionality including traffic and the 3rd party interface before they release a PDA upgrade.

Mike

Thanks for the information, I do find it odd that they left that part out, I understand about making the product "plug and go" but everyone drives at different speeds?

Might alter what my colleagues buy now, I am sure that they will want as accurate as possible ETA's, I know I use this to warn clients if I am running late etc.

Interesting that on the latest TT3 you cannot have the ETA as well as the traffic simultaniously? Another small detial overlooked no doubt!

Regards.

The most important reason for being able to modify the speeds (as in the PDA versions of TomTom) is that it influences the type of route that TTN calculates. For example, someone who doesn't want to use motorways could set the motorway speed to 5 mph, and TTN won't use them when optimising routes. Similarly, by putting the motorway and major road speeds closer together, TomTom won't take you miles out of your way just to use a motorway. This ability to tweak the routing is a major plus point for TomTom over its rivals - pity they've dropped it in TomTom Go
