All of their active sites this week are listed at http://www.safecam.org.uk/News/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=105

But when I enter these site numbers in your 'submit by camera ID' it puts them all over the country, not in the right places. Any idea why this might be?

Also, I checked several of their current registered sites and found them not in the DB, including the one that got me (2271), which gives me pretty low confidence in the product.

All their active sites are listed at http://www.safecam.org.uk/CameraSites/camera_sites_map.aspx and every SEU has to maintain such a list - I don't see why you are not making use of this freely available, catalogued and totally reliable information.

Easily explained. They use different site IDs to PGPSW.
Have you submitted the one that caught you? You might just earn a year's free subs (if you are already a subscriber). But I guess you're not as you would not have 'low confidence' in the PGPSW product.

NB: These maps are meant to be a rough guide to the camera location and may not always be 100% exact. Please also note that mobile sites can be up to 5km in length, and a mobile enforcement vehicle is able to park anywhere within the site where it is safe to do so, and may not necessarily park at the same location every time; therefore, we cannot plot a definitive point of the enforcement location. The icon for mobile sites is plotted at the centre of the site.

As they say, the positions given do not show where cameras have been used. Other local sites give similar into. The PGPSW database shows the actual location where users have actually seen a camera being used.

As mentioned, the IDs you're entering are Bristol & Somerset's IDs and not the PGPSW IDs.

Search for the location itself and you can see what data we have.

First, we log camera sites which have been reported to us by members and confirmed by our Verifiers.
Second, ALL such partnership lists say that a "site" is an area which can be quite long (e.g. 5Km), so our database will not handle a mile long "site".
Third, it is NOT "totally reliable information" - in the listing you quote, they have, for example site 3161, Midford Road, Bath, which is diverted around by all through traffic (i.e. drivers likely to make trapping a success), due to the landslip at Midford. Site 3213 is due this week too - at Swineford, where there is a total closure of the A431. Frankly, I believe those lists are simply drawn from a programme listing which is not particularly accurate. - "Fred put out this week's list please." and good old Fred pulls off the next listing, without checking such matters as road closures. I wonder how the list looked during the floods?

M8TJT and GerryC have both given very good comments too.

Sums Dennis? 5km just over three miles, but I suppose if we can't handle 1 mile then we sure as heck can't handle three miles.

As an aside, why on earth do all these council ponces etc. talk about km, when it is British law that road distances must be in miles?

You KNOW I'm not good at sums (although if you look, you'll find that Homberg Way, [which is on my shortcut route to Hinkley B], where that camera is said to be located, is closer to a mile long than 5km).

And that's not council ponces, it's Avon and Somerset Constabulary ponces and you may call them that, but I couldn't possibly comment.

And the only reason why 'they' didn't give us km when they decimalised all other weights and measures was because 'they' would have had to give local authority ponces the money to convert all the road signs (bear in mind, motorway marker posts at the side are in kms and ms).

Not my definition of "reliable information"...

All the design work is in metric. Its only a few measurements that are miles/yards. Even a 200yard advance warning is placed 180m away.

At some point sanity will prevail and road signs will be converted to metric. As long as beer is still in pints I have no problem with it. Guinness
