Was not sure where to post this for the best so eventually picked this location

A cyclist taking a short cut home uses the M25 at rush hour near heathrow and blames it on his nav app Rolling Eyes

It does make your mind boggle

There was a foreign guy doing this on the M1 in Hertfordshire recently. But I'm not sure that all the hype is justified. It may seem dangerous at first, but if I ever went cycling again, I think that I would have more chance of surviving on the hard shoulder of a motorway than I would, say, sharing the inside lane of the A41 dual carriageway from the M25 to Aylesbury with all the lorries, vans and cars.

I must admit, it never ceases to amaze me how many cyclists chose to ride on a busy main road in preference to a cycle track less than 6' to the left. Do they have a death wish?

It's often because so many cycle lanes are badly designed, poorly maintained, contain obstacles or significantly more Give Ways than the roads they are meant to supplement. They frequently hinder progress rather than aid it.

This doesn't however, exonerate any idiot who decides to cycle on a motorway.

I assume that's why they choose to cycle on main roads and dual carriageways when there's a cycle track only a few feet away. I'd certainly rather them than me with car whizzing past at 70 mph only inches away Shocked

Even if he'd turned onto the M25 slip road by mistake I'm sure he would've seen the error of his ways in a matter of seconds, certainly soon enough to push his bike back up to 'relative' safety. Rolling Eyes
