Using CamerAlert on an iPhone 5 with a Bluetooth connection to a Pioneer AVIC F30BT Radio/SatNav.

I run with the volume setting on the app set to full, but the volume on the radio is low, if I adjust the SatNav Bluetooth phone connection volume to make the CamerAlert volume better I then get perforated eardrums when a phone call comes in... Does anyone else suffer a similar problem?

I have tried to edit the app resources and boost the mp3 file volume by 50% but once rezipped it fails to install from iTunes to the phone (on a Mac) I'm not entirely sure why...

Would it be possible to have the app released with louder warning files, it seems shame to have a volume control if it's flat out & not loud enough.

Any help much appreciated
Andrew

It's incredible. I have the same problem with volume - virtually nothing is loud enough for me, except bluetooth earpiece on which I can adjust the volume. Phone calls do seem a bit loud, but I can manage with them.

And yet.... if you look around, there are any number of people who think the warnings are too loud!! I have decided to conclude that it's down to individual users and individual devices. And yes, I know it's different for you, but I just don't know what the answer is.

Not sure how I did it but think it was by setting the volume for the alerts using the side volume buttons whilst an alert was sounding (you can do this by testings the app at home) and then setting the phone volume seperately whilst in a call.

When the alert is sounding the iPhone volume bar box that pops up is only about 20-25% maximum volume but the phone volume is 100%. I also have the Relative Volume setting in the app at about 80%.

IIRC the Relative Volume setting determines the volume difference between the iphone music volume and the alert volume.

I'm also routing my sound through a BT unit to the car speakers. Then I just knock the BT Unit volume up or down a notch depending on speed/road noise.

I'll investigate, never even thought of that, thanks

Just thought. I didn't check that whilst connected to the BT unit so the volume might behave differently once paired to a BT unit. I'll have a play tomorrow and see what I find.

It appears it uses a different set of volume levels when paired to a BT unit as both calls and CamerAlert are set to 100%. However I still think the key thing was the alter the volume whilst the alert is being played.

Tested today and as you said, adjusting the alert volume whilst being output has solved the problem. I had expected the phone volume to subsequently be a problem but it wasn't. Not sure I really understand why, but I can now hear the alerts at a reasonable level and take a phone call without being blasted out of the car!
Thanks for the help

Excellent. Thanks for the feedback.

The phone and app steams have independent volumes but you can only adjust them whilst in use so it knows what you want to adjust.
