Bring Back the side Dashboard Garmin...Grrr!

y first Garmin and really disappointed in the lack of ability to have the dashboard on the side instead of the bottom.

I deliberately went for the widescreen version (2515) to use this facility but looks like it has been disabled somewhere along the firmware route....WHY?
It gives more vision of the road ahead plus bigger fonts for the dashboard.

Unless of course I am missing something simple

Dashboards do vary from model to model, seems these days that Garmin is giving even more options to reduce the area left for the map

On my 1490 I can also select 'More data' so I get the 'dashboard' on the side. Unfortunately AFAIK that is not possible on the 25xx or 34xx models.
