Has anyone had a problem with AOL blocking the database download? When I attempt to download using AOL Desktop 9.6 I get a banner telling me that my web browser has blocked file download from this site for security. If however, I login to AOL via Internet Explorer I can download the camera database files with no problem, Any ideas? I have never had any problems with the older AOL version 9.1.

Seems like AOL know better than you Very Happy They are protecting you from malicious speed cam databases. It's a bit strange because there is normally no prob with .zip files especially those that do not contain .exe etc. files.

Cary on using IE or FF Very Happy

Thanks for the reply. I am still chasing AOL but they are not easy to contact, I will continue to use IE until they manage to sort things out.

Yes, I think you are right, they just seem to want to communicate by text. I have just recieved a text from them to tell me that they are passing the problem on to their senior engineer, they have already sent BT to check the line, but all OK of course. I hope to hear from them in their standard seventy two hours but won't I hold my breath!

Not had any other complaints. I have a life long hatred of AOL, whilst nothing would surprise me where that company is concerned, I'd expect more complaints if there was an issue and it's very unlikely that they are blocking downloads.

What are the symptoms exactly?

I have just upgraded my AOL software to AOL Desktop 9.6 from 9.1 I have never had a problem with version 9.1, but I have had a problem with very slow download speeds (0.2mbps). AOL seems to have addressed this now as I am getting 4.8mbps at this time (not too bad for my location).

The symptoms are that when I log on to AOL software directly (as I always have done), and then log on to pocketgpsworld site from there, when I attempt to download the camera database I get a dialog box informing that my browser has blocked the download from this site for my security and safety. I have checked the settings in Internet Properties and set them as reccommended to allow file download, but I still cannot dowload the files as I used to.

However, if I open Internet Explorer and then log on to the AOL software via IE I can download the files with no problem. I can continue to download using IE, but this never happened in the past using the older version AOL 9.1, so I am not sure where the problem is,but I think it could be the new AOL software. It's not the end of the World but thanks for any help or ideas.
