How is a POI linked to a road??

I've just got a Qashqai with Nissan Connect. I have been reading how you can create your own POI warnings with "Latitude, Longitude, Description"..
Or download the speedcams here, etc.

I am guessing because of the simplicity of this format, there is no way to link it to a road?

E.g. if a speed camera is on a bypass under a roadbridge, and you are driving over that roadbridge, directly over the top of the speed cam, you'll get the warning even though it's not on the road/route you're currently driving?

Yep - that's correct. The only way you can 'link' to a road would be to use the heading (direction) of travel for the camera. This would mean that you only get alerted when the camera targets your direction of travel.

However, this also means that the device/software needs to be able to support the directional data - which Nissan don't.

And this is where we get stuck - we can only provide as much data as the software allows us to use.
