I have developed a utility to convert the Garmin PGPSW camera files to the Garmin supported GPX format.

The reasons behind this are:

1) To overcome/reduce the Garmin default 36 second advance warning.
2) To avoid the situation where there is no warning, usually because you are below the speed limit and not accelerating.
3) To remove continual back to back warnings (e.g.Motorways) because the Garmin is not directional for user created POI's.
4) More recently there is a warning banner change facility but this should be used with caution on Garmins as it stops other features from working. These are mentioned in the change text screen.
5) Separate Redlight, Gatso and RedSpeed cameras with appropriate icons and sounds.

Latest versions:

**Download CSV Converter V1**

Version 2 :

**Download CSV Converter V2**

Installation:

Unzip the package somewhere unique and follow the instructions in the help file which can be viewed before installation.

I've been using this program since the middle of 2011 without issue so I'm confident it is fit for purpose.

ok - giving this a test - installs fine on windows 8

could do with being able to change the working directory

will upload to my 2390 and see how it performs tomorrow, compared to using ash's camera manager

i may need to change the bitmaps as last time tried over 22x22 on the device it didn't like it

Ok thanks

Once you've used it, if you still think a user defined working directory is the way to go I'll work on it.

this worked a treat - I just got to change distance warning so a bit longer, rather than when near enough on top of the camera (ie 200 yards) - so will try different settings.

I swapped the voices for the ones with the 3 beeps at the beginning as I prefer these.

The icons displayed fine, but I need to see if can use similar to the ones from camera manager (but they are 22x22) as not bothered about it displaying the speeds as the voice alerts tell me.

I also found the app to generate the output a lot faster than CM as well.

But definitely would like t to have a user defined working folder, as I store all my data on a hybrid drive or network and not the os and app installation drive.

Not sure what you program in, but it's usually a simple command to open the dialog box and select a folder

Overall though the app is very good

Thanks for the feedback. Very Happy

I program in VB2010 at home and VB2012 in the office (plus VB6 and COBOL in the office). I would have upgraded at home but the Visual Studio 2012 is heavily into Win8 and therefore more akin to touchscreen which I don't like. I upgraded to MapPoint 2013 recently and that is the same with large black and white finger size buttons. Colour menus and buttons seems to be a thing of the past with M$. I've avoided Office 2013 for the same reasons.

Changing the working directory and holding it in the .ini file will not be a problem but give me a bit of time as I have a large project on the go at the moment.

ps: Also in the working folder/directory is the .ini file and a .log file, just in case there are problems.

I've done a bit in VB6, 2010 and Delphi 6 - many years ago used to program in assembly language (that was fun)

Why not use the registry to store information instead of an ini file?

I like to be able to get at both the ini and log files for any debugging, just my personal preference.

I need to work out the best way to allow user selection of the working directory as the old VB6 components of drive /directory / files are no more, and I don't want to call in the COM component to include them.

I've backed out VS2012 here in the office and I'm now running VS2010 so I've got compatibility both here and home. Just need to find the time now ..........

As Kremmen has been busy lately, I have with his permission been updating his CSV to GPX Converter and PGPSW have agreed to host it.

I have made some changes mainly to the code and also some of the menu options have been changed

if you are interested in testing or using it, it can be downloaded from

All feedback is welcome

thanks

Hi walkerx (and Kremmen!)

It all looks very clever, I really wish I knew how to code. Crying or Very sad

But just looking at your screen shots from the PGPSW cam-data side of things....
I just wondered why the Gatso, SPECS and Mobile "TBA" sections were missing? (and there's SPECS "var" too now)

That's my fault.

For my personal preference I don't want to be warned of TBA stuff and I remove them during the conversion. If the majority verdict is to include them, probably as an option, then that would be quite straightforward.

I think walkerx has done a mighty fine job slimming it down and I look forward to testing the final version myself now it's reached that stage.

Thanks for the feedback

I'm going to update it so you can choose whether or not to include the unknown cameras and also ensure it pulls in the data for the specs variable cameras (as it adds them for the gatso one's).

Also looking at the over-speed section to give you the option of including in main or separating them (similar to Ash's Camera Manager), as on some Garmins (mine including) if in same file it won't display the icon's on the screen.

update: I've just gone painstakingly debugging why the TBA cameras weren't been adding when included in the run and found that most are duplicates of confirmed cameras and thus no need to be added again.

I did find a couple of other bugs Sad which I've near enough ironed out, but as it's getting late and i'm tired I off to bed in a moment, so won't be doing much more tonight

regards
Walkerx

Over the last week I've been the 'tester' for walkerx's enhancements.

I'm confident that this latest version is rock solid and will provide far better control over both approaching a PGPSW camera and notification when still over the known limit.

As above, all feedback welcome Smile

It looks brilliant Kremmen & walkerx, it makes me wish I had a Garmin so I could start using it.

When something like this is made available it makes you realise that there are some very clever people about.
