TOMTOM XL NOT BOOTING

Hi,
Hope someone can help. My tomtom XL only boots into a continuous loop of the first tomtom screen and my startup screen. it is not showing on my computer as a drive and i have reset it where i've had the system information on the tomtom screen. I'm guessing i need a new tomtom. But any help with sorting this before i need to go out and buy one would be helpful.

Everything really depends on you getting it recognised as a drive by the PC first, so concentrate on that.

All I can really suggest are fairly obvious things, but try them all in different combinations.

Do a reset WHILE connected to the PC. No need to go as far as the "bios" info screen though, let go of the power button as soon as you hear the drumroll (assuming you do!)
Try different USB sockets, different cables etc.
Try the ClearFlash utility (http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6178)


Try everything here: Device not recognised by computer (probably not much use in your situation, but worth a try).
