If you have an Android Phone you can always download Torque from the Market which is a very swish interface for any Blue Tooth OBD interface.

Could be. You could try to get to 60 as slowly as possible Laughing

Thanks for this. Found one for my symbian phone but it doesnt communicate with the garmin eco-hd device sadly. But i will try torque on 'er indoor's phone..

PS. i love eco route. Adds a touch of "tech+" to the cabin.

The Garmin unit appears to use its own unique way of communicating with the PND's from the Garmin product range it won't work with software such as "Torque" for the Torque app you would need a more generic Bluetooth OBD-II reader.

I tend to use the OBD_Gauge software with my OBDKey Bluetooth unit if I want to access and datalog while on a run, its a shame the Garmin software doesn't record the data to the memory card, as I mentioned in the review it would great if it could log such data along with the GPS position, even at one Hertz it would be very handy for post run analysis when running on a race track - Mike

Yes, its a shame its a propriatory system.
Oh well...I can read and reset most DTC's so its no massive problem.

I've been using mine on an Alfa Romeo GTV 2001 model and have found it to be very useful; it replicates the computer features now found on later cars and the fuel consumption works out to within 1 m.p.g. of what I get from calculating it from fuel used (full tank to full tank) and mileage done. The extra instruments facility in particular is noteworthy and not a distraction. Nearly all my cars and motorbikes have been fitted with oil temperature and pressure gauges, voltmeters and/or ammeters amongst others and especially on the air-cooled engines have had an added benefit (I fly a Bolkow Monsun and in aviation it is imperative to keep an eye on Ts and Ps). Ts and Ps used to be displayed on older cars but now we have to rely on "idiot lights" which really only show when damage has been done. All I had to do to fit the ecoRoute HD device was to very slightly modify (bend) the bracket holding the OBD II socket and use a right-angle adaptor.

I've tried this and I've found that accelerating "briskly" then easing off gives better economy than gradually gathering speed.

The scale on that central gauge is useless. You might just about get the coolant hot enough to move the pointer off the bottom stop. I guess the scale has been calibrated for Fahrenheit even though the units are set to Celsius.

I found that too so re-allocated that dial to another function. As 200 is at the top and most cars would run at about 90 deg.C. or 195 deg.F. I would imagine it is for fahrenheit as you say. They've yet to catch up on the metric system in the USA! Wink

On a recent trip of over 1 200 miles to the Black forest and the Vosges (and back) the ecoroute HD gave a reading of within 0.15 m.p.g. of the one I calculated using the car's odometer and measured fuel upload. I'd say that was pretty good.
