A very old TT7 is the latest Navcore you can use, but there will be reasonably up to date maps. Also depends if it is Windows ce5 or ce6, ce6 does have memory problems running TT7?

Unfortunately whatever you do it's likely to be outside of TomTom so unlikely to be legal as TomTom 7 is not available anymore or supported on that kind of device.

Latest release 895 maps from TomTom do work with TT7 but as stated you have to do by unofficial means?

You will only gets maps without all the fancy features to work though, ie don't go for ones with IQ Routes, Text to Speech etc

I'm sure if you google for TomTom on windows CE you will find some guides?

I don't know about Android, but I used to dabble with Windows Mobile and TomTom7 (Windows Mobile 6.5 was the last I had) before I joined the Apple Fanboys.

Sygic or I-Go are a better bet than TomTom 7 for a WinCE based product, I use Sygic on my WinCE based head unit in the car, no real issue with that - Mike

Apologies for hijacking this thread but I am after some info.

Like the OP I am considering replacing my built in satnav (Birdview) as the only purpose it currently serves is as a flat surface to mount my phone holder.

If I buy a WinCE head unit with Sygic supplied on a card can I remove the card, insert in my PC and then add/delete POIs (speed cams etc). Can the maps be updated via home PC as the head unit has no internet access.

The device I am thinking of is here

Thanks

You will need to download the file format converter to change the POI file format to the rather unique one that Sygic uses but you should be able to add third party POI files to the card.
Not too sure about map updates though as they seem to update the maps along with a new app, but this should be possible to do when the maps are out of date - Mike

Mike out of interest what Wince head unit do you have in your car, I have the Dynavin DVN-TT (D99) platform, but it has yet to be fitted.
Cheers

It's a cheap double din unit from China Vasion, works OK and was an easy option when the stock Volvo radio/ cassette (remember them) failed, pointless repairing the old unit - Mike
