Hi,

I've just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (P6800) & I've opted to try out the Sygic GPS Navigation app, will Camera Alert work in conjunction with that app or can I install the camera database as POI's as I do on my tomtom!!!

Hope you can assist

Cheers

You can do both.

Sygic allows you to install POIs directly into the app but they are not directional alerts.

CamerAlert could run in the background and give audible and directional alerts.

Updating Sygic cameras is a bit of a pain to be honest but has the advantage of giving you icons on the map view. Instructions are here: http://www.sygic.com/poi

Updating CamerAlert is done over the air with a few button presses in the app.

You could even use both versions at the same time.

Yes, you need the 'Sygic Aura' CSV files then use the converter linked to in the install guide above.

I use Sygic and CamerAlert together on my HTC Sensation and it works well. I have Sygic running in the foreground and CamerAlert in the background. Sygic has the cameras (MaFt is right - it is a bit of a pain to install them) set to show on map (but no audible alert). It then counts down the metres (or yards) to the cameras. CamerAlert is set to audible alert.

That way I get directional audible alerts and I can then glance at the screen to see exactly where the camera is.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the hints.

I too have made the transition to an android device (Superpad 8 tablet Android ICS).

As a devout Tomtom user for many years, I have been gob-smacked by how much better Sygic is than my previous equipment.

BUT <- big BUT I have an issue. Google play says the my tablet isn't compatible with cameralert ! !! WHAT!!??

As an android newby, what have I missed? More importantly how do I get Cameralert?
(NB: pocketgps website thinks I'm a Mac device!)

Your advice is welcome as always.

Kindest regards,
