Hi

Don't know whether anyone can shed any light re using converted OpenStreetMaps .gpx files or whatever. Having been weaned on 1:25 OS cards here, the prospect of negotiating the Lycian Way is a bit daunting. Paper maps are limited so I'd like to be able to use the gps to as much benefit as possible. I guess at best it'll point me to the next waymark which in iteslf would be dead useful. Has anybody used it without mapcards?

Thanks for any pointers

Jim

Jim,

You could plot your route in Quo2 (maybe other options) after downloading OSM maps for the area and (preferably) also the altitude data to go with it. Then export the route to a GPX and import to you Satmap. Of course you will not see any terrain detail; you'll just see a route overlaid on a very much expanded (and therefore unintelligible) world map. But at least you'll be able to follow your route, and see if you deviate from it.

Far from ideal, but free!

Chris
