After the latest update, what's the correct way to close the app? Kill it from the taskbar?

BTW i love the new option to control the sound output, it's been an issue for me for a long time.

There are 2 ways:

1) turn off tracking then simply press the home button - in background mode with no tracking it will shut itself down.

2) press the home button then double-press it again to force kill it from the task bar.

Option 2 is better in my opinion, especially if you use the 'also run' option. tracking on/off is in teh same state when you restart the app so if you turn tracking off then restart the app it will still be off. the also run only works if tracking is on.

blame apple - they rejected the app because there was an 'exit' button. i won't say the rude word that springs to mind...

That sucks, compared to what was there previously it is a really inelegant solution :-(

Could an option be added so that CamerAlert always starts with tracking on if set?

Oh well, thanks for nothing apple.

Why kill it at all? If you close it using the Home button, GPS will quit after q0mins with no movement. So there is no need to kill it?

My iPhone moves quite a lot even with CamerAlert closed - I close CA when I stop driving and start shopping or wandering - one reason I chose the iPhone was because it's a mobile phone (boom, boom, boom!) Laughing

Same goes for the TomTom in your pocket which urges you to Turn Around When Possible - and P on the nearest person!

And the same instructions apply to TomTom if you wish to kill the app.

This is an Apple dictate, nowt we can do about it. If you wish to kill the app, then use the multitask menu.

to work around that wonderful Apple dictate the next version of the app will start with tracking enabled. Then, if you want to shut it up (and avoid loo mishaps) either tap the GPS icon or the tracking button and then the home button. CA will NOT issue any camera warnings, and will die a slow and painful death by asphyxiation after 10 minutes in the background. Then, when you start it again, it will immediately start the GPS tracker.

(Now of course I am waiting for the first person with a plausible scenario who absolutely needs CA not to be tracking when started)

Sounds like a good solution! Thanks.
