Hi everyone

TT GO 1005 is all up to date and very slow to respond, seems to be worse after last map update. Should I do a factory reset? Any ideas.

Slow to respond to what?

Screen taps? Map redraw when traveling?

If the latter, how many POIs are Enabled to show on the Map. More than 2 or 3 will dramatically slow down the refresh rate of the screen. Warn When Near does not have this drawback.

Hi Oldboy thanks for your reply

Screen taps seem slower. Confused

I agree, mine is just a pain to use nowadays.

It's the screen taps that take just too long to process. If I want to choose a favourite to navigate to I tap the map screen, wait for 3 seconds, then tap the navigate to icon, wait for 3 seconds, then tap the favourites icon, wait for 3 seconds and then tap the line entry.

At least one can 'pre-tap' the screen areas quickly in succession and the menu will eventually catch up - so whilst the screen still shows the 'main menu' I can already tap on an icon that has not yet come up and it will process the correct command eventually once it displays the correct sub-menu.

This sluggishness just makes using the device unpleasant and shows how underpowered it really is. The software has advanced much faster than the hardware or maybe it's just very inefficient code.

Know nothing of MyTomtom devices. Slow screen taps on the older devices was nearly always software related.

New devices are generally much slower to react to screen presses than old ones (that's TomTom's idea of progress).

But if you are getting upwards of 3 seconds delay regularly, that's way beyond normal expectations.

About all you can try is

1. Do a reset - Hold down the power buttonfor ~20 seconds UNTIL the drum roll then release it.
2. remove any custom POIs car cursors etc. temporarily, just to see if it makes a difference
3. Return to factory settings (from the menu)
4. Reinstall software using 'recovery mode'.

To go to recovery mode - Hold down the power button as if you are doing a 20-second reset, but keep the button pressed AFTER the drum roll until the black and white info screen appears, then release it. Then press it again rapidly three times 1-2-3.
Once you have the "spinning cogs" graphic, connect to MyTomTom and it should re-download the latest stable software release.

Did any of the suggestions fix it? My Via Live 120 seems very slow after the last update too. Sad
