Same red cross procedure for me as well with 512MB RiDATA SD card, this still appears as design fault from TT...

If you read french you might want to visit the french forum postedabove, theys seems to list SD cards which TTG fails to work with.

A rather peculiar comment from TT "support":

"You can use one SD card and delete and reinstall maps as you suggest, but please ensure that you do not delete the Go application.
Alternatively you could purchase a larger SD card. We recommend you purchase a card manufactured in Japan, Europe or the USA and NOT in China or Taiwan."

The included card that came with my TomTom GO is made in China...

"Support", yeah right...

And my Kingston 512MB (which works) came from Taiwan.

Are TT support making it up as they go along? Wink

They always seem to give a load of false information, or the lack of it. Why they just can't tell the truth, i don't know, but i suppose ALL company's fob you off.

i used to work in computer repairs, and was often told to give customers who wanted info the "Three "B's" Bull Baffles Brains.

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!

Just received a comment from Tomtom support:

".....We have no known issues at this time with a particular brand of card(s), although it appears that SD cards made in Japan, the USA, and Europe all seem to be a bit better than other cards."

So they now say there are no known issues but some cards work better than others. Perverse logic or what?

Brilliant design; hopelessly-out-of-depth support.

No known issues...right...

Since they believe SD Cards made in Japan, USA and Europe seems to be a bit better (!!!), why on earth did they include chinese cards with TomTom GO? Rolling Eyes

Support my ¤%&¤%&... ;)

Cherz

PS! TT should think to reconsider their product description for "Maps of Western Europe" as well, check the update on this thread

I refer to my previous posting,

Bull Baffles Brains.

I say if you can't beat them, join them,, next time you email them,, Say that your TT Go is picking up "local radio", instead of a GPS signal.

See how long it take them to answer that.

Any chance of a cut 'n' Paste of the cards to avoid from the French forum?

Better to use the Google web page translator (under 'Language Tools') to read the French forum direct.

Cheers,

Finally I am getting somewhere! I have just spent a week trying to download a map of Spain onto my TomTom first with a 128mb card recommended by Expansys (too small so money wasted) and now with a 256mb card that is apparently incompatible. Tomtom tell me to download stuff I already have. I have the same problem as cherz. Hopefully I'll be lucky 3rd time round please tell me what card will be guaranteed to work and the cheapest place to buy. Many thanks

Just popped into Costco's and they are doing the Sandisk card for about 32quid.. trouble is I was distracted by the missus so I don't know if that was for a 256 or 512k one and checking on the French forum that is compatible with the 'Go'...
