I am a new user and evaluating the product.
With regard to display changing to map when approaching a camera can I assume that every time this happens I am charged by my network for transmission of this information?
If my pay as you go balance reaches zero what happens then, does the camera alert function still work,i.e does my phone keep talking to the network as far as my location is concerned and will warnings still occur?
Thanks in advance

To answer your question directly it will still work, you will just have a grey 'grid' instead of the map tiles but the icons will show and the alerts will still play.

We have a user setting for "Show map:" with options of "always", "near cam" and "never"

Always - always shows the map
Near Cam - keeps you in 'list view' (a list of cameras and distance from you - no map or data is used) but when approaching a camera the list view slides out the way and the map shows (then uses some data to load the map tiles)
Never - keeps it in list view all the time, doesn't use any data.

So if you're on a tight budget for data costs but you want a map then use the Near Cam option. If you're abroad then we recommend using 'Never' although most smartphones will automatically turn off data when you are roaming.
