Slow Response

I have just bought a Fortuna ClipOn and it seems to have a slower response than the LeadTek/TomTom serial devices I used to use.

On further investigation I used the WinFast Navigator to watch the data stream and the data from the GPS comes in bursts every 5s in either ST or XT mode. You can particularly see this with the time update as it will pause for 5s then rapidly count up.

Is this normal or is there something wrong with the device?

It may not be relavent but when I first tried to use the device it took absolutely ages to get an ST mode fix, approx 4 hours! During this time although I could get a bluetooth connection no data appeared.
