Updated my Motorola Atrix with the OTA 2.3 update from T-Mobile last week and Motorola have changed there colour scheme to a generally lighter background. This seems to have affected CamerAlert as per attached pic. I realise it's Motorola's fault but is there anything you can do to make the background black again for me? Sad

I have the Atrix too but not had any update - did you do anything to receive it?

I know Lutz already had to do some jiggery-pokery to get the buttons to display properly as Motorola forced a custom colour scheme into their firmware. Perhaps this is a side-effect of their new update?

I can't see the issue until I get the OTA update although the phone is unlocked and running without a SIM card (data via wifi hotspot) so maybe it's that...

Scratch that, I've found it. Menu / Settings / About phone / Software updates

Downloading now so will chat with Lutz later to see what the issue is!

This is exactly why developers prefer apps for Apple than Android - just too many things like this to work around!

Do you know what Lutz did as my colours are not as per my HTC desire?

But hardly any Android users buy apps compared to iOS users... Plus, the approx 35p we get from the app sale doesn't go very far ;) Especially when you consider there may be only 5 users with this particular phone...

Is that the same Apple that PGPSW have been complaining about in the weekly newsletter - something about having to jump through hoops etc etc?

Yup, but there are only basically 4 devices to work with: 3G/S, 4/S, iPad, iPod Touch

as opposed to thousands of Android devices each with their own custom-ROM quirks etc.

that's what i was referring to, not the submission process. the app submission process is far simple for Android although that has led to the rise of many scam apps and dangerous software though...

Lutz did this here:

Code:
button.getBackground().setColorFilter(target_shade, PorterDuff.Mode.SRC_ATOP);

Took me ages to find something that would work across all devices.

there's a "fix" in the next version. We're just trying to test it first on a real device. "Mañana".

well, after a whole 24 hours of fiddling, testing and messing about it looks like Motorola have messed us up...

all the stuff that should work to fix the 'grey background' issue brought by the Atrix's update to FroYo have failed Sad

it may be something that can be fixed in the future but at the moment it's not something we seem to be able to do. It looks like Motorola have changed too much in their customisation!! Oh, the joys of open source software...
