standard SD vs high speed SD

Hi,

I need to buy a Secure Digital (SD) memory card, but I don't know which one to choose - standard SD card (1.5 MB per sec) or high speed SD card that is about 5 times faster.

The question is: is there any point to use high speed SD card with Magellan Meridian? I mean that for example if Meridian internal processing takes longer than reading from SD card then there is no point to buy a faster card.

Has anyone tried different SD card with Meridian GPS?

The difference is in the write speed, so this will in no way effect your Meridian GPS from reading the data you have on your SD card faster, therefore will in no way optimize your set up. These high speed SD cards are designed for Digital cameras, so that when you snap a picture, it will write the image (picture) to the SD faster allowing you to snap the next picture faster. I have a SanDisk 1gig SD in my Color meridian, and i think if you buy any SD card over 256 or 512 your getting a high speed anyway, of course this may be outdated by the time i post this.

So in short if your not using your SD for both your GPS and a camera, dont waste the money on high speed!
