My girlfriend has just brought a Toyota Yaris 2011 model, and it has built in sat nav, I was just wondering if anyone knows who makes that sat nav for the car, (It had a free upgrade to their touch and go system) I dont think it even tells you the name of the roads, I think its tmc based for the traffic, Im not sure if the speedcameras are updated over the air ? or how you get the specs cameras for roadworks on motorways updated ? how often is there a map update for the sat nav in the car, the salesman said you can download updates from the Toyota website ?

Can you download the speedcamera database from here for it ? or is it best to use her Tom Tom 1000 and forget the satnav built into the car ?

Thanx

Almost certainly better to use the TomTom GO 1000. Very few factory-fit systems support updatable POIs and I'm not aware of any Toyota system that does.

Do you have a link to any image of the satnav? Toyota did use a TomTom variant in some cars at one point, it had a removable display. I'm guessing it's definitely not a TomTom?

Have you asked the salesman the above questions?

Google don't do map data in Europe, they use Tele Atlas. I think Harmon Kardon use Tele Atlas but can't be certain. It'll be Tele Atlas or Navteq map data, not that it matters in reality.

Hi
Sorry to reply to an old thread.
If you have a Toyota satnav with the reversing camera then it is a Touch and Go system. These are made by Becker and use Navteq maps like the iGo.
Updates normally seem to be packaged in an iso file (swdl.iso). A new map update has just been made available. Anyone got a copy?

Did you get a map update for yours? If so have you still got the file. It would be good to see how the files are packed into the .iso image to see if it could be updated from standard iGo Navteq files instead of waiting for Toyota to charge £109 a go.

Notwithstanding the piracy issue here you it simply isn't possible. Whilst the data may be Navteq, every company has their own file formats which Navteq produce for them.

You can't convert Navteq data destined for System A to data suitable for System B.

I have just changed my car to a Auris with Touch & Go.

Maps on my Tom Tom and Garmin devices are nicer and the camera alert seems pathetic.

Also as mentioned they like £109.00 for a map update which seems to be twice a year!

The Touch & Go PC app says my map is out of date and I should spend £109.00 on a new one but their on-line website says my map EUL20130409 is current.

I also note they are launching a Touch 2 already being fitted to some models

Should be OK so long as the steering wheel does not come off in your hands. Very Happy
