When I run Tomtom W/Europe maps on my iPhone 4 with Camera alert, I get 2 small red flags where each camera should be, the voice warnings are ok.
Why is this please? Could it be that tomtom cameras were already on the tomtom application (W/Europe) when purchased from itunes, and also on camera alert.

If you get icons on the TomTom map , then that will be from the TomTom alerts.

But why are there 2 red flags instead of one, and are not camera icons?
Thanks for your reply. Mike.

No idea, you haven't really given is a lot to go on Confused Is this in the TomTom app? Have you ever attempted to load our database into the TomTom app?

Can you take a screenshot and show us?

The CamerAlert app CANNOT add anything to any other apps. If running in the background then it can only give voice warnings. If the icons are in TomTom app then it is from TomTom and not us...

Michael has sent this screenshot to illustrate the issue. They look like they're placed where speed cameras should be?

Michael, have you ever tried to install our database into Tomtom iPhone in the past?

Brick red icons look like the PGPSW database has been installed using bmp icons rather than the 24 bit colour depth PNG icons required by the iPhone app which are supplied in the download from the page where I detailed how to get warnings on screen within the app using PGPSW database - Mike

Yes, I have installed database into Tomtom on my iPhone in the past!!
Would you be kind enough to explain what I have to do to get this to work on Tomtom maps of W/Europe please. Also do I need to install map settings .cfg from my old 720 backup. Is it possible for Mike to e-mail me the file, or where can I find it ?
I do also have DiskAid on the computer.
Sorry, but I'm loseing the plot and need to start afresh. Regards, Mike.

The instructions and download can be found on This Page but I have sent you a copy of the download for iPhone4 by e-mail.

Make sure the TT app isn't running in the back ground when you install the mapsettings.cfg file or it won't take effect, also note the locations the files need to be placed in by following the guide in the link above.

Finally use adavanced planning to set a route past a known camera site then use Route Demo so you can check its all working before setting out in the car - Mike

Good morning Mike, Well, burnt the midnight oil to no avail last night, but this morning again put in what you sent me, and also downloaded safety cameras from the site and added them, Hey Presto, I now have cam logo,s on map, But, no spoken alerts, do I have to download them also, and where do I put them?
Many thanks for your time and email. Mike.

The file I sent you contains everything thats needed to get spoken alerts working on the iPhone, you should have copied the ogg sound files to the same location as the icons and poi files.

At a guess you either loaded the mapsettings.cfg file to the wrong folder or left the TomTom app running in the back ground while installing the mapsettings file. Repeat the installation but ensure the TomTom app is switched off BEFORE you start, fully de-power the iPhone then switch it back on, at least this way you know that there are no apps still running - Mike

I know, which is why I'm wondering why you're persisting with this? You'll need to go through this install process every week and it's an unsupported hack which could be broken by TomTom with an update.

CamerAlert is a one-click in-app update and it's all doen for you. Is it worth all the hassle? I know you get the camera icons on the TomTom map but it seems like a hell of lot of work to me Confused
