I don't drive in London anything as much as I used to do. On my way to Brixton today was surprised 550 tried to take me over the Albert Bridge which has been closed for repair for sometime.

Just wondering how TT could not have known of a major London route closure [I know, I know], but also how there has been no mapshare reports filed?

As it is only temporary (I assume), perhaps MapShare isn't the best mechanism. HD Traffic would be a better mechanism for covering this. You were within 75miles of the bridge weren't you Laughing

The closure of Albert Bridge is only temporary. It was planned to to be closed for 18 months, however it was found to be in a far worse condition than was expected so it might take longer.

WOW - it has been closed since mid Feb 2010!!!

In that case, yes, I would have expected MapShare to have taken care of it. I don't know if temporary closures get distributed via MapShare though. Perhaps a question for TT in their forum seeing as they have gone all touchy feely listen to the community in the last week or two Laughing

I was at the junction on the other side of the road wondering whether to go left or right. Battersea Bridge seems the best option.

I'll try the Forum.

I too have reported the Albert Bridge as a "special case" and asked them how on Earth something so important hasn't been included in Mapshare (or a proper map update, considering how long it has been closed for ).

Nothing was done.... Crying or Very sad

I'm with AndyV on this, it should be in HD Traffic (and RDS-TMC too), especially now TT claim to include Highways Agency data. I've seen too much "permanent" MapShare rubbish for temporary matters to approve of doing it deliberately (what speed limit do you have on the M48 Severn Bridge westbound - I have 40mph on the nice new map v870, which is the normal reduction for high winds).

No response [yet] to my query on TT's Forum about this. I won't hold my breath.

Exactly - they tell us that with the Highways Agency data they are now on the ball with road closures.

This one must have slipped through the net because it was a closure before they started receiving data from HA!

But it must still be on any list of current closures?

Anyway no response on TT website, but I'm not sure I've put it in the right place as there is no specific section for mapshare issues as such.

I suppose it depends how the system works.

Maybe they get notified of any new closures and also of any previous closures that are now open, rather than a constantly updated list of closures. Less data to pass between HA and TT that way.

Either way, if MapShare and HD Traffic didn't indicate a bridge closure that has been closed for 16 months then it is a pretty poor show.

Makes a bit of a mockery of both systems, and the TT Manifesto.

Does the Albert bridge come under the Highways Agency?
