What's frustrating is just how slow Tom Tom are to recognise they have a problem and their default customer service is to deny everything and stick to out of date problem resolution scripts.

At least this time they do have an announcement out.

Not looking forward to my M25 commute tomorrow if this isn't fixed overnight.

H ad patchy HD service yesterday and none at all today and guess what i recieve in my in box tonight - the following e-mail from tomTom

"Are you making the most of your free TomTom LIVE Services?

Don't forget – you get real-time traffic information, Speed Cameras, the cheapest fuel and great places to go out... all free!

Did you know..? ...that the average driver receives two speeding tickets per year. With Speed Cameras you know what's ahead!

...that there is a way out of the jam? With HD Traffic® you really know where the jams are, so you can avoid them! "

Apart from the blatant lies about the average driver receiving 2 speeding tickets a year (this means the average driver would be banned in two years...) you think they'd check that they're actually providing the service that they're promoting before sending such a self congratulory email..

Still a box top right on TT's UK support page - HD traffic service still unavailable.

I spoke with TomTom Customer Services today.

A lovely lady advised that they are working on the problem and the HD services "will be up and running by the weekend".

She then stated that due the the problem and as a goodwill gesture from TomTom, the period of time I have been without HD services will be added to the end of my subscription along with a little bit more.

She would send me an email and when my HD services were back up and running OK, I was to confirm by email to get the extension of my subscription

She also stated it is unfortunate that France and UK are affected with this problem.

Until she said this, I had taken everything in good faith that the services may be up and running by the weekend, she was unaware that TomTom web site was also showing Germany as being affected!

Copy of my post on the TT forum:

Quote:
I had some HD traffic this morning on the way to work, but it was very intermittent. The blue bar was occasionally dark blue (normal) and light blue (not normal) - pressing it when it's light blue brings up "This service is unavailable in the country..." error, but pressing it when it was dark blue did give me some traffic information: "3 min delay. No incidents.", so i'm not sure whats happening.

I've had a response from TT support after an email in a few days ago:

"Jon, please be advised there is a current issue ongoing with the HD traffic services. Our technical team is looking into the matter and are trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Once the issue would be resolved it would be updated on the website. Please accept our sincere apologises for all the inconvenience caused to you in this regard."

As TT and many others are reporting that HD services are down, I am a little confused.

Just checked my route home, as I always do, and my 1005 is reporting a 45 minute delay on the M1 through the roadworks owing to an accident. This info is backed up by the Highways Agency website, and the local BBC travel news.

So is HD down or not?? I think not, in the area in and around London, TT think it is Evil or Very Mad

Nothing working here either (Midlands, 750 Live).

I believe it's because the TT team read my review, and hundreds of engineers have been re-configuring the system to get greater traffic range.

Rolling Eyes

More likely this:

Well TT Support says it is still down....but as they don't seem to know when it is down, they may not know when it is up....so to speak.

It's easy to tell. If you get it, it's up. If you don't, it's down. Very Happy Very Happy

my traffic seem to work about 3.30 today when I was approaching Coventry after i switched it off and on again. It was a good job as it told me about the accident on the M42 and got me around it. Very Happy Shame it wasn't working in London today. Sad
tried it just at home and it does connect even though it takes a couple of minutes. Smile

HD Traffic worked all day perfect for me around the M42 and down the M40 to Oxfordshire.

So - does the new HD Traffic work with a GO Live 550?

I've had an email from TomTom today suggesting I may need to upgrade the device to use the new service....

http://breakfree.tomtom.com

http://breakfree.tomtom.com/trade-in/uk/trade-in-and-break-free.html

Confused now....
