I've been using my tomtom for years , but I'm having a problem with it in the fact it won't take a 7 digital postcode. This has never been a problem before , but now we have a touring caravan and alot of the sites addresses only seem to be 7 digit postcodes.

How do I sort this out, or should I look a either buying a new unit ( which one) or buy software for my galaxy s2????

Thanks for the help

The 720 should accept a 7-digit postcode, as long as you don't include any spaces.

When you connect your TomTom to the computer, can you see a folder called "zip"? this folder should contain the postcode files.

The required files can be downloaded from http://www.tomtom.com/updates/zipcodes/Map_865/zip.zip and extracted into your "zip" folder.

If you don't have a folder named zip in the root of the drive letter associated with the TomTom simply right click the drive letter for the TomTom and select New/ Folder, name it "zip" (without the "").

Next download the files from the link in the post above and extract them to the zip folder on the device, use Windows Explorer for all of this NOT the TomTom Home Software - Mike

The postcodes never get updated with the maps for some unknown reason. We have been telling TomTom about this for years but with no response.

What you SHOULD have had is the original 'zip' folder and files from the original map, so 7-digit postcodes should have been working (assuming you have been using "Navigate to Postcode" not just entering them in the address line).

We'll probably never know how your zip folder got deleted if it's not still there, but it's easy to replace using that link.

Try not to let it confuse you that the folder arrives as a 'zip' archive and that the folder ONCE UN-ZIPPED is called "zip" (as in the American name for postcodes) Laughing

On various forums this has been mentioned as a fix for not being able to enter a full postcode but that may be just for older devices or older zip folders.
