Driving in Wales on Sunday it quickly became apparent that the 30 second warning range I had my camera alert set to was inadequate, a lot of the camera vans were high on brigades and would see you at least 45 - 60 seconds before you reached them so I reset my iPhone accordingly but now 60 seconds warning for 'fixed' cameras is obviously too much!

Any chance that in future updates there could be a separate 'warning range' for fixed and mobile camera sites?

Cheers!

How weird, I read your initial post as 'bridges' anyway and didn't notice until you said it...

Personally I think the best way to do this is to have an 'add extra time for mobiles' option that adds an extra 50% to the main warning distance - eg 15secs extra on a normal 30secs warning.

The settings are already quite complex so I'm thinking more for ease of use. Yes, individual timings for each camera type and speed would be nice but overly complex for some users.

Max range of mobile is about 1000 yds. = 3000ft. 60mph = 88ft/sec. 3000ft at 88ft/sec takes 34 seconds at 70mph=abt 29 seconds. and at 80mph=abt 26 seonds so a warning of 60 seconds seems rather excessive to me. But what do I know Confused .

I do it like 60mph = 1 mile a minute, = half a mile (880 yards) in half a minute (30 secs).

However, you're not always travelling at 60mph - in a 30mph zone the camera will still have a range of 1,000 yards and my sums isn't up to what that means. So I just don't speed. Very Happy

If 30secs at 60mph covers 880yards then 30secs at 30mph covers 440yards so you are half the distance away from the camera when you first get the warning.

So at 30 in a 30 zone, you need about a minute for the extreme range of the mobile cam Very Happy . Ah. just remembered, no you dont, you're not speeding so need no warning.

I wonder why Dennis who never excedes the speed limit, or 'drifts over it slightly' is so dedicated towards the upkeep and accuracy of the PGPSW database. Very Happy Very Happy Stop! I'll get me coat Very Happy

I sometimes even ask myself that question. Maybe I get a kick out of being so superior to you all? I've been doing cameras for six years now, so it's a firm habit and I get a foolish thrill whenever I see my name in the weekly list of existing Lifers who would have qualified for Lifership. But then, as my dear old granny says "There's nowt so queer as folk" (which I think might be auto-censored!). In truth, I enjoy being part of this website and cameras are just one aspect of it - the site has really sorted me out with my TomTom satnavs. Plus, Mrs MaFt and young MaFts are very nice people (must be on her side, 'cos they don't get it from MaFt).

Edit to add........ Joker

That would be a perfect solution if at all possible - thank you!

Might be simpler to have a separate distance/time slider for mobiles

Fair enough Smile I just thought (TM) a single on/off switch mightb be easier for you to code.

yes but think of all the children. especially the ones who will not like the arbitrary 15 second addition. By having a separate slider we can put the blame on them.
