Think my MicroSD 16gb card has gone bang today, cant seem to get my XDA phone to read it now. ( i do need to double check it works or does not work in the SDHC reader adaptor when i find it ).

I have also reinstalled the shdc program on my phone again in case it lost it settings.

If has turned to toast, any ideas where is the cheapest & best offer for another 16gb MicroSD card asap.

Is there a 32gb card due out soon?

Thanks

MPW

I use
www.7dayshop.com
for memory cards and memory sticks. They are based in the Channel Islands, so no VAT. Delivery is usually quick and they are very helpful.

Another vote for 7Day Shop. Good range, quick delivery, keen prices and very good customer service.

Well, looks like not even a year has passed and my 2nd 16GB SanDisk SDHC card has just gone capot.

I see the CPW have their own make 16GB for around £28 and there is an integral one on MM for around £32, seem reasonable.

I have also been looking at these 32GB cards on Fleabay, very unbranded and not much written up about them. Good value for around the £20 mark.
Anyone have any ideas if they are any good ( perhaps might last more then a year be nice ) and how they can sell them so cheap!

Cheers,

MPW

Hi,

Well, they might just have cut their margins to the bone, but more likely they're semi-rejects. I believe all modern large memory devices have some defective cells and the internal electronics is arranged to replace these by spare cells which are included in the design. However, where all (or nearly all) of the spares are used up then a reputable manufacturer may choose to sell off the chips rather than put their own brand name on it.

But, cheap memory devices might actually be be "fakes" which have been "hacked" to appear to have a larger size than they really have. You only discover this when the device is typically more than 50% full and find that some of the earlier data has become corrupt or vanished (by being overlayed by later data).

Personally, I've bought a fair number of small electronics items from Hong Kong at excellent prices, and received a few (legitimate) refunds because the sellers are so keen to keep their "five star" rating. But I don't think I would risk memory cards and similar from HK or China, but prefer to use Play.com or 7dayshop, etc.

Cheers, Alan.

There goes another one!

How come these MicroSD cards dont seem to last long!?

Im now on a 16gb Integral card from MyMemory class 4, seems to be a bit more faster then the last one.

Well, I'm still using the MicroSD cards I bought fro 7DayShop.com with no issues at all.

Mind you, they are SanDisk and Kingston genuine ones.
