I am looking to get 1:25k Ordnance Survey maps from my iPhone, any recommendations. I have come across RouteBuddy Atlas and OutDoors GB and both only given 3 stars in the review. Has anyone had experience of these apps or alternatives?
Thanks
Tony

ViewRanger. It's expensive but it includes download credits for 1:25k or 1:50k maps. The beauty of it is that the tiles you download are quite small, so are appropriate for what you need, rather than a large area that doesn't cover what you need http://www.viewranger.com/

The route recording and sharing isn't as good as GPS Motion X, but it's OK.

I use OutdoorsGB a bit, but I've only used the 1:250000 map that came free with it. It works OK. But read the reviews in detail. Some of the bits that have been criticised and been given low marks in reviews may not be features that you want. At least that's what I felt.

I plan to buy a 1:50000 map in time for a walking holiday in April. But I worry that the GPS location software in the iPhone will drain the battery before I'm halfway through even a short walk! Sad

I am particularly interested in an app that will integrate well with a Mac version of the programme so that I can plan a walk on the Mac and transfer to the iPhone. In addition to Routebuddy, I have come across Anquet. The latter is free on the Mac and the iPhone app is £9.99, however, maps are also cheaper to buy for Anquet. These are all new products for the iPhone so not easy to make a decision as there are no comparisons.

From the information that I have gleaned to date:
1) Anquest is free and maps seem to be less expensive than RouteBuddy
2) RouteBuddy seems to rate better but the iPhone does not have certain features that Anquet has, I read that "it lacks some key features for hillwalkers, most notably the ability to calculate height and the cumulative, or total, height gain for any calculated route. Routebuddy also does not give you spot OS grid references which is really frustrating. " Is this still the case
3) Anquest does not seem to update its app on a regular basis unlike RouteBuddy.
