Yet again Garmin is updating the 2nd last update (2011.20, issued in July) rather than the last update (2011.30, issued in October).

Anyone know why this is so?

How did you spot that it was a down leveled map?

I have Lifetime Maps and on MyGarmin it is showing as an update of 2011.20. There is no update showing for 2011.30.

Is this a cunning way to stop "free" 60 day updates? Presumably units shipping since October/November had v2011.30 loaded but it is 2011.20 which has the update. Confused

The MyMaps and Download history web has changed at least three times in the last few days, the notification of the update is now a separate item and not associated with any other version.

The easiest way to see improvements before downloading is to go to this page and then click on the "view interactive map" which allows you to zoom in on any part of the map so you can see the changes (if any) in your area.

Hi,

Junction view is not working on my 1695 since the map update. Having looked into this there is no .jcv file in the .system\jcv directory.

I've reported this to Garmin but in the meantime does anyone else the same issue or have a solution?

Cheers, Ian

I've just had a look in that folder and I have both files

D2504000A.sum
D2504030A.JVC

Using CN Europe 2011.40 3D
CN Europe NT 2011.40

Thanks for looking Burn, I have a .sum file but no .jcv file.

Phoned Garmin earlier today as it's been 3 days since my email, 20 mins wait but helpful when I got through.

Firmware 2.70 (for Nuvi 1695) was released yesterday, advised to update the firmware and re-run the map upgrade.

Updating the firmware (software) on my 1695 and reloading the maps did not help. I have now received the following response from Garmin support:

"Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe. Having spent some time working on your issue this morning, it appears that there is a wider issue than relating specific to your device.
This issue has occured on a device that I tested earlier today and I have reported this to the software team. Currently, there is no fix for this, however, when I have a resolution for you, I will email you with results and guidance on how to fix this on your device."
