I have searched for answers but have not found anything.
My 720 has up to recently had a reasonable battery life,45min to 1 hr,Its now down to 1-2 min.I have heard that recent updates via tt home can cause this problem? If so how can I correct this. I would like to be sure that it IS a battery fault before I send it away for battery replacement

Thank you TD Smile

My 520 is the same, and has been for some while. I don't know the cause, but there's a simple solution - always drive with it plugged in. It doesn't worry me at all!

After many months, I decided to replace the battery on mine..... £13.01 on Amazon from MDS Battery Ltd, which included the Torx screwdrivers and opening tool. Took 24 hours to arrive 'Post Free' and 20 minutes to replace....An absolute bargin.. CoPilot

Thanks for the replies, but regarding doing the battery replacement myself, after reading how delicate the connecting strip is & the difficulty removing the old battery I think I will have it done for £25 IF it needs replacing & the fault is not down to a recent download

I can't see how a recent download would result in the battery life being dramatically reduced like that. More likely that the battery in your older model is now knackered and not holding it's charge.

Seconded, this is symptomatic of a battery at end of life, nothing to do with software and never heard of HOME causing any such issue. It's at the root of many issues but battery life ain't one of them Very Happy

Get the battery replaced if you're not comfortable doing it yourself and it'll be right as rain.

I have a TT720 & a TT730, replaced batteries in both as they where not holding their charge.
720 is fine, will hold its charge for several weeks but the 730 still only lasted about 30 mins.
Thought it may be a duff battery so bought another but still the same problem.
I found that pressing the hard reset button on the 730 after use solved the problem, just switching off puts the unit to sleep but for some reason on the 730 when it sleeps it still draws a high current.

Try using the "clear route" option rather than pressing the reset button and see if that makes things better - Mike

Nope, tried that, the only way I can extend the battery life is to press the reset button.
Also shifted the prog (new download) & maps to the SD card but that made no difference.

Hi Folks
I have had my 720 since Feb 2008 and the battery is still ok. However, it is used on a regular basis and the day must come when it gives up the ghost. I always drive with it plugged into the car but one does occasionally still sit at home having a fiddle and to do so a battery is still required.

Some time ago someone (I think it was Mike) gave a demo using screen shots of a battery replacement taking place. I meant to bookmark that topic but I if I did so I can no longer find it. If any of you have the web page can you let me have the details please?

Not Mike's tutorial (I'm sure he'll post it here) but here's one in this link:

Hi Oldboy
Thanks. I hope that I never need to replace the battery but If the day does arrive I will be well prepared.
Thanks

Is it just me or are half the pictures missing from Mike's tutorial?
