I bought Copilot live 8 for my iPhone to use as as a backup to my Tom Tom 720...and I am more than happy with it.
It's not as good as Tom Tom but makes a great companion in case of emergency when I have left the house without my trusty TT 720.
CoPilot is so cheap, and will get you there sooner or later, it has to be a must purchase, but not as a main device. Having said that.... if you don't own a TomTom, you might be very happy with Copilot, as you won't know what you are missing.

lots of frustrated Tom Tom fans here, and I guess if you are using Android then TomTom has basically told you to "get lost", literally.
Anyway, since this is a thread about CoPilot I thought I would at least voice my satisfaction with CoPilot 8. It isn't perfect, the menu structure is a nightmare, but on the whole it works well enough on my HP iPaq214. They recently updated their European maps for free, something I never used to get back in the days of paper road atlases.
Any idea whether there will be a Win7 version coming, I don't really fancy Android or iPhone.
The promise of a qwerty keyboard "soon" for Copilot 8 on WinMo is still up there on the ALK support site, clearly they have no shame!

I tried copilot (briefly) - awful!! Route planning was bizarre - nowhere near the best route compared with TomTom.

I couldn't agree more and am pleased not to be alone in this. I tried versions 6, 7 and 8, and found them all as bad. I often found that when I forced it to use a more sensible route than the one it planned, it told me 'my' route was both shorter and faster than its 'fastest' route. I got their support people to reproduce some of the more bizarre routes and they agreed with me, blaming Navteq mapping, but Navigon also uses Navteq and yet produces similar routes to TomTom.

After using the serious flawed Copilot 5 many years ago and dealing with their inept support desk, I wouldn't touch anything ALK produced again. TomTom all the way for me.

I do find their support people fairly responsive (although they seem to ignore 'difficult' questions completely). Ultimately, though, much of the time, they are ineffective, failing to answer the question posed. TomTom for me too, much though there is to complain about and much as I like some of the features in Navigon.
