Mike, Darren:

Re Sygic Aura - as mentioned in the thread related to the announcement, they ARE going to be adding 3rd party POI support. I've had a few email chat's with them and they seem to be listening. To the point where I am now on their beta team for testing Aura 3. Hopefully owing to our status within the 3rd party/poi sites 'status' they will take onboard our suggestions.

I've already said that even though they are not officially supported, we have always recommended sygic for iPhone as it has the best speed cam / poi support (recently without requiring jailbreak) and that we could not do this if they don;t have POI support.

Their tagline is "We Listen" and they do seem to be doing that so far.

I'm scratching my head on this. I definately have the speed cameras & oggs in the right place. I've put the mapsettings.cfg that came in the pgpsw-iphone-tt-1.6 zip in the right place, but when I look at the map in TT I cannot see the cameras.
I'm hoping this is something really simple. Could anyone help stop me pulling what little hair I have left out ;)

Will.

Are you 100% sure the TomTom app wasn't running in the background when you installed the mapsettings.cfg file?

De-power the iPhone then switch it back on and re-install the mapsettings file as this tends to be the main issue reported from users suffering installation issues - Mike

Oops, sorry Mike, should have said; I'm using a iPod Touch 2G that i'm going to use with a BTGPS when it arrives. I did as you said and cannot see my cameras when I browse the map or do a route demo.

Will, Have you got ov2 files from the Pocket GPS World database installed to your map folder in addition to the files in the zip download from the first post in this thread?

The icons should be visible in both Browse map mode and route demo - Mike - Mike

That was it! It was me forgetting the ov2's! Embarassed Spot on now thank you. I'll leave it for today now and try and figure out where to put Vicki's voice or photo. Time for a bath to relax!

Cheer's, Will.

Just re-name the vicki voice to data10.chk and use DiskAid to put the renamed file in to the voices folder, start the TomTom app and go to Change Settings/ Voice then select the Spanish voice "Marta" and you will now have the Vicki voice instead!

The bmp file is useless as is the vif file, you only need the chk file but make sure you overwrite one of the foreign voices with it, if you need a full list of which files corespond to which country and voice:

Couldn't be simple for me! I've changed Liz's voice only Single File, pocketgps_uk_sc.ogg, to data10.chk and overwrote Marta's. When I select Marta in settings TomTom closes. It closed when the data10.chk was with it's .vif, and when the data10.chk was on it's own. Just closes!

I am not surprised its closed the app if you have done that!

You need the liz whit voice file for Navigation NOT the speed camera warning voice as the two are different items, the app will get in a mess if it only sees a single spoken command when it expects a single file that contains 58 spoken navigation sounds.

The download from the zip file in the first post in this thread is for the Speed Zoned file set, if you use anything other than the speed zoned file set it won't work correctly.

If you need the Liz Navigation voice file let me know your e-mail address via PM and I will send it over - Mike

All
Only recently found this thread and followed all the basic instructions and seem to have got it right first time - so big vote of thanks, couple of comments

1. it took me a little while to realise that the cfg file refered to in several posts is actually included in the zip with png & ogg files - spent a while scratching head and wondering where I would find that Confused Worth updating the page 1 instr to point others to it.

2. assume that when camera updates released by your goodselves I only need to copy the new set over old with diskaid as per first screen and not worry about the png, ogg or cfg files - unless of course there is a TT map change as well.

3. Now need to update my version on iPad and sons iPhone4, so hopefully as no surprises
keep up the good work
Andy

and yes I agree CamerAlert is much better if only worried about those nasty roadside thingies and use that when I know where I am going.

Unfortunatley all too often I have no clue where I am / going or need the quickest route so rely on TomTom and traffic.

This is correct, for weekly updates simply copy a set of UK Speed zoned ov2 files to the correct folder on your iPhone.

Andy, is your iPhone a 3G or 3GS, if so you might notice that on your sons iPhone4 the icons are considerably smaller, this is quite normal for the time being.

With multi tasking available on the 3GS and 4 you can run CamerAlert in the background and TomTom on the screen to get warnings from CamerAlert while following TomTom for navigation, if you hardware doesn't support multi tasking then getting the camera warnings within the TomTom app is about the only option for nav and warnings - Mike

thanks Mike, yes I note from the thread that iPhone4 icons are smaller.

at the moment I am running a 3G phone so multitasking is not an option altho I could run CamerAlert off the ipad on the backseat....
Upgrading to iPhone4 in May when contract ends and will use your suggestion of running the 2 in parallel

more than happy fiddling around ...after all your team have done the hard work for us (including hassling the vendors)

does the importing of the "mapsettings.cfg" from a TT PDN to the TT iphone alter any of the iphone POI positions/database?
