The US 1.5 update has just appeared so with luck we should see the other versions get their 1.5 updates shortly.

For users of CamerAlert this will resolve the 'poor gps reception' issue.

As soon as it goes live I'll post back unless someone else beats me to it!

1.5 for Western Europe and also UK & Ireland is live in the app store now.... 1.85GB download underway - oh the joy!

Apple, please sort out 'patching' updates so we don't have to download updated apps in their entirety, this is rediculous!

The text from the app store:

- OPTIMISED FOR IPHONE 4 (iPhone 4 only): Turn-by-turn navigation with TomTom just got even better, with high resolution graphics and sharper maps. Menus are more responsive and positioning is more accurate, even with limited GPS reception. The TomTom app takes full advantage of your iPhone 4.

- NAVIGATE-TO-PHOTO*: Got a photo of the place you want to go? Simply tape on the image and TomTom will take you there. You no longer need to enter an address to get going. What you see is where you'll go!

- NEW UPDATED MAPS: Because an average 15% of roads change every year, your TomTom app comes with the latest and most up-to-date map, ready to navigate. No mobile signal or data plan is required to browse your map and navigate to your destination.

Would love if it they added:

1. A navigate to work feature, for a repeated work address (as per Navigon IIRC).

2. The ability to turn off types of alert. I only need traffic warnings when on a normal work journey.

It's such a pain that you have to have more than double the size of the app in free space to install it. After a bit of fiddling I've got the update installed and put back what I had to take off to free up the required space.

That's a requirement if it's updating an existing app IIRC. It doesn't delete the existing one until an install successful flag is raised.

You can avoid that by deleting the older version first but you'd lose all your settings then.

And why bother, fun for 5mins. Until they can offer these voices with full TTS functionality I don't see the point?
