I have a 1390T and for some reason its saying the internal memory is full, so I have got a 8gig SD card for it.

using map source I have managed to put the europe maps onto the memory card, but now I am stuck as to how to remove the duplacate maps from the internal memory and to make sur ethe unit will work with the maps on the card.

anyone know how to do this? as untill I do I cant update the unit or install my POI speed cameras (im that short of memory!)

Cheers

Karl

Not sure about this, but can't you connect your gps to mapsource, without the SD card inserted, then de-select the areas in mapsource ?

On my 255WT, I've got maps AND my POI speed cameras etc, all on the SD card. Works fine.

If I plug my Garmin into the PC, I can explore the files on the Garmin. I have taken a copy of everything as a backup, and I have put it on the PC.

My main road map in the Garmin is called gmapprom.img. I can tell that's the one, from its huge filesize. If I were really short of memory, I could delete it from the Garmin, as long as I had taken a backup.

But, if I were looking to save memory, I think I would see what else to delete first of all, rather than deleting the map. I would try deleting the Garmin cameras (...CyclopsSample.gpi) and my own POIs (poi.gpi) for starters, to see if that did the trick.

On my Garmin, I can de-select the internal roadmap so there is no conflict with the map on the SD card.

Dales.

To get to the internal map

you have to un-tick "Hide protected operating sustem files" then you get a folder in the nuvi drive ".System" it's all in there

I'm guessing you have to replicate the .System folder in the card?

I.e. Garmin\.System

it appears to have worked... I sent the europe maps to the card via map source and then deleted the img file from the internal memory, so I now have nearly 2gig free on the internal memory.. unplug from the laptop and it loads up ok and shows me the map of where I am etc so hopefully thats all fine now

cheers guys! Very Happy

mini7racer,

What folder structure do you now have on your card? I have a Mac, and there isn't a version of mapsource (yet) for it.

Was just going to re-create the folder structure and copy the map to it (works ok for my Garmin Colorado).

I have a folder that says garmin, then in side that:

1 folder called GPX - inside that userdata.gpx

1 folder called userdata - inside that userdata.adm

then within the garmin folder there is also the map .img fle and the .ga file

thats all thats in there

Travisb,

If you are Copying the map to SD card (as opposed to transferring it from MapSource) you may find that you have to rename it to gmapsupp.img before the Garmin will recognise it.
