TomTom Carkit for hiking

I've bought the TT carkit for my iPod Touch and it is working fine with TT Europe (and Memory Map and CityMaps2Go, etc). BUT I am trying to see how to use it with Memory Map when out walking. I've got a Kensington LiIon battery back which powers the Carkit and tops up the iPod, and so it all works fine away from the car. But the combination is a bit bulky, and what I really need is an iPod dock extension cable which will allow me to leave the Carkit + battery in the rucsac, with a cable leading to my handheld iPod Touch.

I got a cable from ebay, but it does not have the right functionality, or at least the iPod is not seeing the GPS data.
Anyone know where I can get a cable that will reliably bring the GPS signal from the TomTom Carkit cradle to my iPod Touch?

I have used this cable http://www.cablejive.com/products/Dock-Extender-Cable.html with an iPhone and it works fine. Try Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/CableJive-Dock-Extender-Cable-White/dp/B001ERSONI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1284178392&sr=8-2 I purchased my in the USA but I think it may be the same cable. You will need to read about each cable at the two sites to make sure they are the same.
