Hi all: Having read at least the earlier comments on TTN3 software re address lookup, it seemed that 3 was a non-starter... but I gather that with the recent 3.03 upgrade, people are reasonably content. Is that true? I had TTN1 wired, upgraded software to 2, and have now ordered 3 Bluetooth (mainly 'cos I'm giving my wired system to my father, thought BT would be better for me and could upgrade the software on the wired to 3 as well for my father). But if 3's really not looking up to much, maybe I should rethink? I've ordered 3 with an Ipaq 1940: hopefully no issues with these two devices (I know there has with the Ipaq 2210). Will activation prevent me from loading the 3 software on my old Ipaq? Finally, is the ukpostcode software that's been mentioned before as resolving TTN3's earlier inadequacies still worth using?

Many thanks,

So you've ordered v3 and now asking if it's worth it? Confused

If its paid for already, I would say yes, v3 is better than v2.

As for the postcode program, I have installed it, but still not yet used it, it just isn't as accurate as a street name and house number...

I think I right in saying you get a more up-to-date map set with TT3, so that must be a plus. [Although TT 3.03 thought I was driving in a field rather than on the Kincardine by-pass last week :-(]

Otherwise the 3.03 release at least makes the address look-up logical if not good. But the integration with Outlook (on Windows Mobile 2002) remains largely broken IMHO, so the freeware ukpostcode software is still 100% necessary.

Thanks. Is the ukpostcode software straightforward to integrate with TTN3? I'm not that computer savvy so it would need to be fairly easy!

... sorry; forgot to add that yes, more contemporary mapping is, of course, desirable, but I can only say what many other have: that mapping is still disappointing and on TTN2 whole towns could be missing, like roads that had been around for years. They've really got to do better here...

Overall I would say that it is worth it, in 3.03 the address lok up is much better, lots of roads that were missing in TT2 are there as well as new roundabouts.

The UKPostcode program is very good, particularly in built up areas, not so good in rural areas.

You still cant beat putting in the full address though.

I have moved over to TT3 but am now considering purchasing as I have not been very impressed with TT3.

When you have the traffic option installed it takes a very long time to load up, and some of the routing has issues.

I am now going to purchase Copilot 5 instead!

I cannot understand all the bickering about TT3, yes there have been problems with the software but since the updates have been released I have had no problems at all other than the omission of the M6 Toll and you can't blame Tom Tom for this as it is their map supplier who have let them down!. Even this isn't a problem as even if you use the M6 Toll the re-routing facility is so good that it soon gets you back on route when you leave the toll road.

With regard to slow start up after Traffic has been installed, update 3.04T has rectified this problem!

On the whole TT3 has never let me down, infact since using the software I have found new routes to destinations I use on a regular basis that are much quicker and more convenient than those I used to use!

I would agree with RichXDA2 that the latest patch as resolved most of the issues that were found when TT3 first came out.

However I would still not recommend spending money going to TT3 without considering alternative products first. You may find better features etc, just by spending a little more than the updrade fee and swapping to a different brand.
