I am considering an HTC Android phone and since TomTom have nothing it looks as if CoPilot is the only choice (I want the maps onboard).
I have saved a lot of POI's on TomTom, can they be imported ?

You do have more choice than just copilot. Sygic Mobile Maps also runs on Android, I have it on my Hero. It has a similar feel to TTN. POIs are in a different format, but you can get converter software to change them. Have a look in the Sygic forum

You can't buy Sygic from the market. You can download it direct from Sygic or buy a retail pack from Teleatlas

Sygic is a good choice, there is also NDrive. For my money though it would be Sygic.

Thanks for the advice, I now have the HTC Android Desire and I downloaded Sygic Maps10 (v8.12) yesterday. I am still finding my way around but first questions are:

Is it the McGuider format I should download for the speed cams ?

Having done that I cant see anyway of importing them into the application, and no sign of the originals on the memory card either. How do you get them in ?

The Sygic site has a download to convert POI's, but the link is dead, can you suggest a tool to convert my own TomTom POI's to the new ormat ?

The app is a bit querky, the keyboard is too cramped and for some reason it wont use qwerty format in some screens, but uses the annoying abcdef layout. It should use the normal android keyboard.

The phone is slick, watch out iPhone.

I'm curious how you managed to Mobile Maps 10? I purchased what I thought was MM10 last week (I clicked on the "Grab your copy of MM10" link on the website), but ended up with MM9. I complained and they told me that MM10 was not yet avalable for the UK. They said they would let me know when MM10 was available, and I haven't heard anything yet.
