Bizarre routing

I've had some bad routing on my Garmin nuvi 350 at times, especially 'short-cuts' down lanes barely accessible for a horse let alone a car!

But a few weeks ago I had the best. I was just outside of Thurso (far north of Scotland) and not sure of the correct turning to get to the Scrabster Ferry Terminal I asked my Garmin for help. The Terminal is a correctly formulated POI.

Instead of telling me to turn left and drive another mile, it wanted to send me to another ferry terminal near John O'Groats, cross to St Margarets' Hope on the Orkney islands, then drive to Stromness and catch the ferry back to Scrabster on the mainland!

Needless to say, I used my Nokia phone instead.

Beat that!

TomToms are capable of some pretty bizarre routings too, especially where ferries are concerned.
I can't remember the details now, but I think if you forced it to use the Dover cross-channel ferry (by adding a waypoint) it made you use another ferry to the continent then take the channel tunnel back to the UK in order to catch it!
