Just added the new ver850 postcode data to my old map (TTone V2 GB). It does indeed navigate to the new postcode which was missing from my old postcode data (ver604). It shows the finish flag where the new road is, so it pin points the exact location on the map. It gets you to as near as you need to be. I'm happy with that.

The postcodes are as up to date as they can be. I've just moved into a brand new house on a new development & the postcode's included in this release even though some insurance companies etc. don't have it yet.

I hope not...

My old house (i moved 5 weeks ago) was removed from this release for some reason along with 40 odd other houses in the road. They were built in 1937...

My inlaws postcode now points to the wrong road. It took me 2 postcode releases to get it updated to include their house number as it didn't go high enough. 2 releases later they completely mess it up..

My sisters postcode is still very inaccurate. Guests following a TomTom often get lost and the "final mile" isn't that easy to explain...

In the last 2 weeks that i worked i found several inaccurate postcodes or instances where TomTom insisted a postcode and house number wasn't posible, when they did in fact exist.

My house is 25 years old and according to TT there are no odd numbers in my road. Garmin has it correct though. A delivery driver was amazed when I correctly guessed that he had a TT after he couldn't pin point my house.

Yes, I was confused for some time. I guess 'zip' in the folder name comes from the American 'zip code'. Don't know why as TT are Dutch.

Yes you can

On your Go there should already be a folder called "zip" (named confusingly after american "zipcodes", nothing to do with "zipped" file archives).

In that folder will be four files

Great_Britain.postal
Great_Britain.postal.ver
Nederland.postal
Nederland.postal.ver

(although occasionally the .ver files are missing)

Simply replace those files with the new ones from your download (which you will need to de-compress by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting "extract all" to get the individual files)
