Has anyone tried to see if it fits when wearing the Bumpers?

Does the GPS work ok when holding the iPhone 4? There seems to be an issue with signal reception due to the integrated aerial design but it is not clear if this only impacts the phone only when in standby, when making a call or any of its other features:

Could be an interesting investigation!

The issue affects phone signal only, and even then, only when you hold it in a rather odd manner. GPS and WiFi is not affected and I personally struggle to hold it in the way that causes the issue!

I ran my iPhone 4 in the TomTom dock but without the fix today merely to try it on it's own GPS for a 30 minute drive.

Obviously saps the battery a lot but otherwise the GPS performance seemed fine. No delays, jumping or stopping and it didn't switch me to a road close to the one I was on at any point either. So seems the inbuilt GPS in the iPhone 4 is good. Which need to test it a bit more of course.

I gave my wife my 3GS when I brought the iPhone 4 and she's broken her Sat Nav mount today. So thinking of giving her my TomTom mount and getting a more basic one for my iPhone 4.

I'd like to be able to charge and if it had a 3.5m output I can always have hooked into the car that would be great. Not sure there is a dock out there for me yet though.

I'm using a Brodit cradle, the one with a pass-thru connector on the bottom:

Reviewed here.

Connected to that is a Kensington LiquidAux Power/Aux-In cable.

The combo gives me 12v power, a line out for audio into the head unit and a superb wireless steering wheel mounted remote.

The cradle won't hold the naked iPhone4 but is fine if it's in a case or has a bumper attached. Brodit also do a non-adjustable version if you prefer to use your iPhone sans-case/bumper.

As the iPhone 4 has the same improved Broadcom GPS chipsets as the iPad is there any need to now buy the TomTom mount?

If not, are there any similar designs that do not include the GPS electronics, I like the TomTom mount design but not the price. If the GPS is now good enough a similar style mount should cost £15-£20?

No! Early days of course, but I used my iPhone 4 with TomTom this morning but it picked up a signal just as fast (faster!) than my dedicated TomTom unit would do and held onto it without any problem on my 80 mile trip to work. So absolutely the TomTom mount is not required for the iPhone 4!

I would hope so, I too am looking for a decent but cheapish mount for my iPhone.

TT1.4 running on an iPhone 4 doesn't seem to multitask for me. Every time I switch back to TT it has to reacquire the GPS, and also I don't get any alerts unless I have it selected.

I had the opposite problem, I couldn't shut it up!

Tomtom only multitasks when a route is planned. To shut it up, clear the route.

Closing programs down is a bit fiddly, to say the least.

Is there a kill all button, or combo?

But I had a route planned, so what am I doing wrong if it's working for everyone else ?

I've had problems today with TomTom not multitasking properly. I was only testing it out but it didn't work as it should. I had a route planned and when I pressed the Home button, TomTom closed rather than going into the background. I fixed the problem by rebooting my iPhone, a 3GS. This is the first time in a year that I have had to restart the iPhone because of a problem with an app.
