Hi,

Now I have iPhone4 its time to do away with TOMTOM730 and TMC traffic.

I was going to purchase the TOMTOM App with HD Traffic, however reading this forum the general feel I get is Navigon is the way to go.

Anyone else in the same boat? I wish both would do a 7 day trial so I could play and make my own mind up.

Cheers

John.

I find TomTom a more robust and matured product, as it should be. And the traffic data is far more accurate.

Except I'm having a problem with traffic data on the iPhone 4, which I'll make a separate post about.

thanks for the reply.

Out of interest do you have/had Navigon installed? The price for traffic is very good for Navigon, but I would far sooner pay more and have it accurate.

I have both apps and traffic for both apps as well, tomtom is by far the best when it comes to traffic info, you may pay more but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. Hope this helps.

I have CoPilot, Navigon and Tomtom. I only use Tomtom now, the other 2 have nice features, but Tomtom is best for it's core function of actually navigating you somewhere.
I also found Navigons traffic to be unimpressive unless I drove exclusively on motorways.

Similar to the others, I have Navigon and CoPilot as well, and just use TomTom.

in general i use, and prefer, navigon but then again tomtom keeps getting better with each release where as navigon was great from the outset...

i suppose it depends what you are used to and what first grabbed your attention!

Thanks all for the helpful responses.

I have one question I don't seem to be able to find the answer for, checking the comparison chat this isn't mentioned, can you add maps after you have purchased the apps be it TOMTOM or Navigon, For example purchase UK & Ireland then at a later date add the European, USA, Thailand etc maps or is this a case of buying that particular app again?

Thanks.

John.

no, you would need to buy the relevant app as a separate purchase.

Probably worth pointing out that at the moment Tomtom Western Europe is the same price as Uk and Ireland, yet as far as Im aware still contains the same detail of Uk roads. Obviously it uses up a lot more storage space.
