Have you got the voice wav files installed on the XDA, have you got CheckPOInt installed and setup to use the wav files?

Have you followed the instructions for using the Pocket GPS SC Database with CheckPOInt?

Firstly, you need to go into CheckPOInt and configure the overlay settings to detect POIs in that overlay, and then specify the WAV file you want to use to warn you.

If you only installed the main CheckPOInt application, you may not have any suitable WAV files for use - there are a number of sources for WAV files - best to look in the CheckPOInt forum.

What you haven't done is to tap on the icon in the bottom corner to bring up the setup option and configar them to set up the first, speed and last warning and associate them to the wav file you are going to use as Swing has stated in his post
