In a similar vain to the previous topic, google maps allows for click and drag to customise routes and allows you to save in 'my maps'. Is there anyway to download the customised route to a mobile phone or sat nav and get turn by turn voice guidance? |

Hi
I plan routes out in google earth then transfer them to both tomtom and garmin systems using a a program called tyre. Just make sure you put the marker on the correct side of the road and not in adjacent to a side road.( the mapping is not exact and can lead to some unexpected u-turns
You can find tyre here http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/index.php
Also have a look at http://www.bestbikingroads.com/index.php for some suggested rides. |

Thanks for the reply, i've currently got a Navman S80 so I don't think 'tyre' is compatable. I'm realy looking for a system, be it phone or dedicated sat nav that has turn by turn voice control with the ability to take user defined routes from google maps without the hassle of inputting waymarkers. There must be something simple for us bikers. |

Hi bikingroutes, Although this may be a little more work than ideal, I would use a combination of The Houghi Script (links elsewhere in these forums) which will extract the route from GoogleMaps into TomTom format and then use GpsBabel to convert into a NavMan format. Not having a NavMan myself, this advice is untried. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Try BikeHike for the UK. Don't know if it will suit all SatNavs but I have used it on my Garmin ForeRunner 305. You can't save the routes on the site but you can dowload them in diferent formats. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 765T

I think the navman will work with GPX files which tyre can do. and how would you define a route without waymarkers? |
