|

Hi folks,
I'm finding something strange when travelling westbound on the M3, past SPECS 29806. The M3 goes national speed limit following this camera, but the all clear isn't given by CamerAlert and the average speed indicator remains.
Any ideas?
There is another area of SPECS cameras further west, but the alert isn't given for a fair while after the national speed limit zone starts.
I have

29806 is marked up as a Middle Camera, so it won't trigger the all clear. Trouble is, those M3 specs have come and gone like the wind, here today, moved up the road tomorrow, not in use today, taking your cash yesterday, they can't seem to make their minds up, no wonder we get them as middle instead of end! We have more submissions awaiting verification in that area already. Your solution in the meantime is to tap that icon to turn off average speed when you've passed it. (And report a change on the camera submission page). _________________ Dennis

Thanks for the reply.
Yep, I'm using the manual approach atm.
I've logged the changes in the area as well - which westbound meant removing three intermediate cameras between that and the next section of SPECS.
The three intermediate cameras seem to have been completely removed now, rather than just the "not in use" signs, so my guess is that section at least is gone... at least until they dig it all up again in a few months. |

So in short I'm saying that camera can probably be marked as an "end", as that 50mph section will remain for "traffic calming". |

Probably. Until Easter Monday. Or longer. Or perhaps not. The M3 seems to have a life of its own round there! _________________ Dennis

We surveyed that stretch on Tuesday and they changed the ruddy things yet again on Thursday before marking them out of use for the holiday weekend.
I'll run up the stretch on Tuesday once they are all back in service and check 'em again. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi, I've just posted separately about a similar issue, and this problem seems to be affecting a number of users. It seems to me that the problem lies in marking SPECS cameras as Start, Middle and End. While you are driving, there's no way to know if a specific camera is Middle or End. May I suggest you change the designation to Start and Next, and have a separate End which is the end of the restriction (and not a camera). That would solve the problem. Thanks. |

It's easy for us to identify an end camera. We don't expect, or even need, drivers to report a camera as a beginning, middle or end. We can work that out from the reports.
Where we have made an error, let us know and we will fix it. And as has been explained, all you need do is tap the average speed readout to cancel it. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for explaining, I was confused by the 4 options for submitting Start, Middle, End & Unknown SPECS cameras. |

Well, as this is the first query on that option, it's clearly not confusing to all.
If we can gather that information from the users, then great, if we can't, then we can work it out by other means.
The more information we can glean from the source, the better. _________________ Darren Griffin |
