I'm trying to decide whether to get TomTom or Navigon for the iPhone. I've used TomTom on Windows Mobile for years but I hate the customer service. It looks like Navigon is coming out on top in the reviews but one big deciding factor is custom POIs. It seems it's possible with TomTom on a jailbroken phone - just copy the files across. Has anybody managed to do it for Navigon?

Also, with Navigon, it looks like you have to pay extra for UK postcodes, how much are they? I presume full postcode search comes default on TomTom?

I'd very much doubt it as Navigon don't offer POI support on their PND's unless you add a third party plug-in.

Even the TomTom work-around is as kludge and offers no support for POI alerts.

The Navigon full postcode search is an in app purchase costing 59 pence, with TomTom you get this as part of the purchase price built in, its an insignificant amount to have to pay!

I use both application and up to the last TomTom update I would have said Navigon was the better application, with the TomTom update offering HD Traffic (at a price) and the Google search option I now think TomTom have the better application (only just) - The Google search really negates the need for loading up lots of POI files as you find locations from online searches via the application - Mike
