Is it possible to create ESSO gas station POI icons in Germany? Smile

Isn't ESSO Germany the same as ESSO anywhere else or have I missed the point?

Hi, Darren.
I only ask about ESSO icons, because my company gives me a gas credit card for ESSO only. It would be nice to be able to see on my device where the ESSO stations in Germany are, in case I'm pushing my luck and need to know. Otherwise, I pay for gas out of my pocket! Embarassed

Ah sorry, you mean ESSO Germany POIs not Icons Smile

Have you checked our POI page to see if we have that data available already?

From the lack of Fuel submissions in Germany (and many others), I thought they didn't use petrol/diesel. Confused Shocked

There is an Esso petrol station file with over 1350 entries in it on PGPSW for Germany HERE by Lars Linmann.

That's odd, I wonder why they have not been integrated into the main POI download page here?

It may simply be an issue of ownership of the data. Where we were unable to obtain permission or to contact the data supplier we did not incorporate existing data sets into our new database system.

I went to the link you provided and joined the GPS Data Team. There I found the ESSO icon and POI files for ESSO in Germany, but when I click on, "download POI file" and click the drop down and select country level, the next window has no download button. How do I down load the files? I'm also contacting the GPS Data Team support, but thought I would cover both bases. Thanks for your help. Smile

Okay, take it from the beginning.......

1. Go here
2. Click 'more'
3. Next screen, select Germany
4. Select 'petrol'
5. Select 'Esso'
6. Next screen, select 'download poi file'
7. Next screen select TomTom POI OV2 file
8. The download screen appears
(don't forget to also select the .bmp file to download as well)

Thanks, dhn! That worked perfectly. Laughing

I see....
In that case, maybe it's worth having a link to the "old" stuff from the new POI download page? (to remind people it still exists....)

We'd rather members contributed to our existing POI data Smile
