Okay I can upload the Safety Camera data base onto my Kenwood DNX9240BT using the gamin uploader.
Could somebody tell me how I use Ash's POI Manager?
Do I use it first or second?
Do I need to convert something before putting the file on my SD card?
I have tried different ways but must be doing something wrong as I cannot get Ash's file to upload.
Also how do you use the program to add voice warnings?
The "Boings" are really quiet, so i thought I might add some voice warnings.
I am new o this sort of thing and I was hoping for guideness instead of wasting hours!
Thanks

Basically Ash10s CM download the database for you, manipulates it according to your preferences and then generates the appropriate files which you upload to your unit with POILoader. In the case of the Kenwood units you have to generate the output file on an SD Card or USB stick (whatever i appropriate) and use that to transfer it to the unit.

Just run the files that CM spits out though POILoader and put the resulting file on the SD Card.

Without an indication of what you are doing i can't help work out what's wrong..

You add the voice files to the directory where Ash10 generates the files for upload. You then run the Ash10 files and the voice files through POILoader and it combines them into the file needed for your unit.

To be honest there are multiple threads in the Garmin forum and in this one which cover similar units. Any of those could help you. It would also help if you described what you are doing and where it goes wrong.

Start again and read the beginning of this thread about Ash10s CM.

Also see the help page herte

Also look at some of the other Kenwood threads and see if they help.

If you have some more specific questions please come back and post them here...

I'll attempt to clarify the instructions here.

Close CM and go to your POI upload folder on your PC. This is the one you upload POIs from. Delete any PGPSW Speed Camera Database files you already have there.

Run CM and check under Settings - Directories that it knows where your POI folder is.

CM will download a copy of the database for you and start setting up various GPX files in your POI upload folder. You can change the settings at any time and CM will rebuild the files when you hit Apply.

Once the files have been generated run POILoader and use it to generate the POI.GPI file as normal. However due to the large size of the GPI files this might take longer than normal and POILoader will report it is Not Responding. Ignore it and let it finish it.

Load the resulting POI.GPI file to your Kenwood unit as per normal.

To use voices you can download the Ash10 voice packs from here. You must use the ones that mention Ash10 in the title. Also you need to try and work out which settings match which voice pack. When you get it right each GPX file will have an MP3 with exactly the same name in your POI upload folder. Use POILoader to generate the POI.GPI file again (this will take even longer) and upload as before.

Thanks PaulB2005,
I will try your links and advice.
I was not using Garmin uploader to put Ash's files onto the SD card!
I would like the "Boings" to be louder on my Kenwood unit, but I will work on it after I have cracked the data base upload.
Thanks again
Mark

Ah right!!

The PGPSW Database comes in a CSV format but POILoader can also accept a GPX file which contains more settings and data. CM generates the GPX files for you which you have to run through POILoader in the same way you did with the CSV files. Then it should work...
