Hello all,

Forgive my newness - first satnav for me so hope you all can help out with some very basic question... Very Happy

1) Will connecting to my computer via USB cable charge my S50?

2) When connected, should I be able to use it - at the moment I just get a USB data icon.

3) Any good downloads around - maps, upgrades, speed cameras etc.

4) It can with a software disk - but PC only...is there any Apple Mac software.

5) What other satnav maps are compatible with the S50?

6) Any other uses beyond satnav?

7) Any hacks upgrades I should know about?

Plenty for now...thanks all!! Smile Smile

Hello J-Zeus,
In Reply,
1) Yes, but will take longer than using a mains charger,
2) No, when connected to a PC, it will always display the USB screen
3)There is the 2009 maps available from Navman and other mapping regions, nav-voices.co.uk offers voices.
4) Currently no MAC version available
5)None unless you hack,
6) No this is design as a dedicated Sat nav device and not a PDA, this is a PND
7) You can Hack it to boot to windows CE then add your own programs or purchase other Navigation software that will run on Windows CE.
Hacking the device could render it unuseable so is not advisable.

Another question...how do you get it to speak the directions as you drive? You know...'turn left in 100 yards' etc.

It should do this with the voice selected and a route programmed.
Which voice are you using?
