Most apps have a independent volume control displayed without the word Ringer showing.

As does ours, that is how it is working for me here.

iPhone Model? JB?

Same issue after reboot?

Ah, that helps. If you visit the settings | sound warnings page (the one where you choose your warnings) then the side buttons alter the alert volume.

You are right in saying they do not control the app volume when the app is not on that page.

Why that is I don't know, it could be an omission or it may be as designed for some reason. I'll ask!

Can I ask that issues such as this are posted in the correct forum thread here so that we don't lose them in this announcement thread please.

That's a known limitation. Sound control only works when a sound is currently playing (Thanks Steve!) and our announcements are not long enough to give you sufficient time for the adjustment.

Run the ipod app, adjust the volume, then run CamerAlert.

You can also keep the iPod app running in the background - set the appropriate iPod control mode in the CamerAlert settings ( you can pause the music for the announcement).

I may just be missing something really obvious here, but how can you adjust the in-app volume? When i use the buttons on the side of the phone it just changes the ring volume? At present the only way I can figure out how to do it is open another app.

This may be a little bug as it appears this occurs on mine but only when you first start the app. As soon as the app plays a noise the in app volume is working fine. To test go to 'sound warnings' hit the blue round arrow button and play one of the warnings, or just wait for the first camera to ring and that should also do it.

BUG REPORT! Cool

Does anyone know if there's a GPS add-on available for the 2g iphone? Preferably a plug-in device that's portable? Don't want to upgrade to a 3g but would like to use with GPS apps such as the new CamerAlert!

And one more reminder, support issues or bug reports should be posted here please.

This thread is the launch announcement. Whilst we try, posting error or support requests in this thread risk being missed.

You are correct, after playing one of the warning sounds the volume select works perfectly.

Read Lutz's reply above MostDoms, it's an iPhone OS limitation.

I'm afraid this thread is so busy and posts coming in so fast that we're all missing things!

So long as you follow mostdom's advice then the volume alert will continue to work until you exit the app and not only while audio is being played.

The suggestion to play a silent audio clip when the app opens may well be the answer.

I am afraid this is OS specific. It certainly doesn't work this way on 3.0.1

Not seen that old software for ages. I'm all modern on 3.1.2. Wink
