Just been in touch with tom tom and apperently there are no safety cameras or speed cameras app to go with any of the tomtom apps. for the Iphone yet.
I wish i'd known that before i spent £60 on the W.Europe map, but they are coming in the near future.
I noticed on the installation guides that you can maually put them onto the iphone, HOW?, as there is no installtion guide to show me.
Someone please help????

if your iphone is jailbroken then you can copy the ov2 files into the relevant map folder.

it's rather pointless though as there are no options to get any audio warnings on approach - all you get is an icon on teh screen - so unless you watch the iphone instead of the road then you'll not get any warnings...!

Frankly, the best option for speed cameras at the moment appears to be either Sygic or NavMii.

The Sygic option gives full audio [audio announcements of speed and camera type], but requires a jailbroken iPhone and is more complex to both setup and to update.

NavMii comes with with PGPSW Speed Camera database installed and simply requires replacement of a single CSV file. Again a jailbroken iPhone is required and the audio announcement only states "Safety Camera Warning" then you have to then look at the [admittedly very clear] screen to see the speed . . . come on NavMii make the speed and camera type part of the audio announcement!

Obviously, the other option might be the PGPSW iPhone application currently in beta testing . . . please can we have some insight on the functionality and timescale for release for this?

As it is still in testing we cannot reveal functionality as yet. But as soon as it has been submitted to Apple for approval we will let y'all know.

Fantastic . . . something that runs on the iPhone AND warns of speed cameras . . .

. . . but
    - will it do so audibly [with speed limit, type and distance announced]?
    - will it be selective [direction & road aware]?
    - will it get its updates directly from PGPSW [push technology and/or on demand] without having to use a computer as an interim step?
    - will there be a nice little picture of the road with the camera located on it?
    - will it display my current speed?
    - will it only alert when I am [accidentally] travelling over the speed limit?

    and

    - how good will it be [I expect the best]?
    - will I be able to use my current subscription?
    - when will it appear?

So many questions and so little time!

So many questions which are all very valid but due to NDA nobody will give you answers to them as yet, perhaps you should have joined the Beta test program this site was running a while ago, but for now you will have to wait and see - Mike

I fully understand that the testers cannot disclose any information under the NDA, but surely PGPSW own the app and as such could reveal information if they wanted. Not sure why it has to be such a big secret.

There are many reasons why we have chosen not to and when we are ready to reveal all we will do. To unveil features before it has been approved would be foolish, competitors may try and pip us and Apple may not approve some.

We're not trying to be awkward or clever but we don't want to reveal the product until it has been finalised and is at least in the approvals system.

This should now be very soon, we're currently completing the documentation to accompany the app and then it will be off to Apple to hopefully receive final approvals Cool

Your response beat my edit above which I made in an attempt to clarify our position.
